Vinzenz Kreuzer

Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa (1870)

Vinzenz Kreuzer (1809, Graz, Austrian Empire–1888, Graz, Austria-Hungary) was a painter and draughtsman regionally known for his still lifes and landscapes. His work also includes cityscapes of Graz. Art historians of the past liked to argue about who depicted the surroundings of Graz more truthfully: Vincent or his brother Conrad (1810–1861). Both were commissioned to document around 180 grape varieties in gouache for the Styrian Agricultural Society. As some of the varieties have since been wiped out by phylloxera, this collection is considered particularly valuable today.
