The Old City of Jerusalem is one of the world’s most conflicted and culturally dense places. In Mélange Oriental, musicians of different cultural and stylistic backgrounds meet to explore this space and the multiple voices and histories of its Muslim, Jewish, Armenian, and Christian quarters. The journey includes the interpretation of traditional pieces and original music on Western and Middle Eastern instruments, improvisations, and ambient sounds recorded at selected sites of the Old City.
