zweintopf are constantly working on the poetry of the trivial to distill their works from the material dregs of society. The artist duo collects lettering and photos of abandoned stores and reinterprets them. In this way, new cityscapes, poetry and onomatopoeia, collages and sculptures emerge before the inner eye, tracing digital, urban, and social change. The signs of the times point to vacancy and disappearance—from pop-ups straight to suicide.
As individuals, we are also withdrawing more and more, shirking our obligations and leaving behind many lonely, fragmentary is on a symbolic level—a letter that contains both horizontal and vertical unification and connection. This blank space is also a central element in a series of crucifixion depictions. Once again, absurd cultural techniques make it possible to quite literally detach oneself from familiar pictorial motifs.
