Bioclimatic Actions!

Exhibition

The increasing intensity of heatwaves, storms, and floods is making the consequences of climate change felt worldwide. In the context of these extreme environmental conditions, the exhibition Bioclimatic Actions! presents new projects by up-and-coming European architects. As part of the HDA research laboratory, The Future of Building. Vernacular + Visionary = Future (funded by the EU’s “Creative Europe” program), they searched both in architectural history and modern research institutions for construction methods and typologies that can withstand extreme weather events. The first research lab started in spring 2023 as a three-week workshop in Graz that collected traditional and visionary construction methods from the architects’ countries of origin. Their publication, A Collection of Bioclimatic Responses, formed the basis for the projects that were developed together with students and experts at the University of Stuttgart in spring 2024.
