László Göndör

I Incest: Presentation of Artistic Research in the Aftermath of an Unfortunate Incest Incident on Zoom (2024)

László Göndör presents an autobiographical lecture-performance based on his artistic research into “meta-irony.” In 2022, Göndör applied to a Western European theater academy with a performance about his Oedipus complex. This experience taught him that irony, if not used consciously, can be precarious. Göndör combines his reflections with the practice of storytelling rooted in his Eastern European identity, exploring humor in politically correct times, the limits of irony, and the (in)stability of social relations and taboos.

László Göndör (1986, Budapest, Hungary) is a performer and theater-maker. His work is known for its bold and sardonic humor, and for walking the tightrope between entertainment and breaking taboos. He is particularly interested in expanding the concept of the one-person show in an innovative, self-reflexive way and blending trash aesthetics with conventional beauty. He lives in Budapest and Amsterdam.
